    Anchors of Hope: Honoring Hope鈥檚 Eight Newest Faculty Retirees

    The words penned by the Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte when establishing the Pioneer School from which Hope grew are among the college鈥檚 most foundational: education as an 鈥渁nchor of hope鈥 for the future. Through all the decades since, that promise has been shepherded by generations of faculty mentors who have not only been at Hope, but in a real sense have been and are Hope. Across campus 鈥 in the classroom, in the laboratory, on the stage, on the playing field and in countless ways between and beyond 鈥 for a combined 205 years, the eight faculty retirees honored here have embodied and helped realize the vision of transforming tomorrow by shaping young lives today.

    Hope College Choirs to Present 鈥淪ongs for Peace鈥 Concert on April 20

    Hope Presenting Staged Reading of 鈥淵oung Americans鈥 on April 16

    In celebration of Asian, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Month, the Hope College Many Voices Project will present a staged reading of 鈥淵oung Americans鈥 by Lauren Yee on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Schaap Auditorium of the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center.

    Hope College TRIO Upward Bound Celebrating 55 Years of Transforming Lives

    Hope College TRIO Upward Bound is the longest-running Upward Bound program at a private college in the country. Its 55th Anniversary Gala: Living Legacies on April 12, however, will not be about longevity but instead will focus on the thousands of lives that have been transformed.

    Retired English Professor Peter Schakel Dies

    Retired English professor Dr. Peter Schakel, who across his nearly 50 years on the faculty earned national acclaim as a scholar and appreciation and respect from students and colleagues as a teacher and for his service, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was 82.

    Two Holland-area students who are members of the Club Animalia veterinary club at Hope College were honored during the national symposium of the American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association (APVMA) held on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, at North Carolina State University.

Awakening focuses on developing high school students鈥 skills in areas like visual arts, dance, preaching and technology.

    For the 25th consecutive year, hundreds of Hope College students put their time and talents into the campus-wide Dance Marathon fundraiser on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.
