六和合彩开奖记录 has received 2023 Tree Campus Higher Education庐 recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation, the sixth year in a row that the foundation has honored Hope for its commitment to effective urban forest management.
The Tree Campus Higher Education program honors colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals. Hope achieved the title by meeting Tree Campus Higher Education鈥檚 five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning project. Currently there are 411 campuses across the United States with the recognition.
鈥淭rees not only play a vital role in the environment but also in our daily lives,鈥� said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. 鈥淗aving trees on college and university campuses is a great way to show a commitment to students and faculty鈥檚 overall wellbeing.鈥�
The Hope campus is populated more than 2,000 trees, representing approximately 100 different species from around the world, spread across some 200 acres. Among its other activity focused on the campus鈥� trees, Hope has made a tradition of planting trees during each Campus Sustainability Month (October), Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (the last Friday in April). This year鈥檚 plantings will be on Monday, April 22, at Friday, April 26, at 10 a.m. along the south side of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
Information about the college鈥檚 trees is available online through Hope鈥檚 Office of Sustainability at hope.edu/sustainability along with resources including links to a tree inventory project coordinated by Hope College, the City of Holland and Holland in Bloom. The project enables users to learn more about all of the benefits trees provide the community as well as information about specific trees on campus and on City of Holland property.
